Take a look at what you accomplished... Your demonstration of unity and support for ending the dog meat trade in Korea and saving these dogs' lives is phenomenal. The whole team at Lady Freethinker thanks you wholeheartedly—quite frankly, you rattled our kibble bowl!
First, we'd like to share with you what you accomplished this week through your love and compassion for these dogs. You've done your part.
Next, we'll provide you with the details on where and how LFT works diligently to end the dog meat trade world-wide, how your monies and signatures are used, and why we all need to stay committed for the long-haul.
Nearly 400 photos of our beloved companions and family members were shared with LFT to post on our virtual wall of unity.
You doubled our goal of 200! There are animal photos of all walks—dogs, cats, bunnies, horses, birds—all representing the deep compassion we have for the animals who are unable to currently experience what it's like to be loved and cherished.
Not only did YOU unlock our $5,000 matching gift, but you continued to provide financial assistance, surpassing our goal by over $2,000.
You can imagine the costs of providing equipment and resources to undercover investigators overseas, publishing and distributing those findings to nearly 500K supporters, creating and delivering petitions to homeland and foreign-national lawmakers, and strategically assisting rescuers with the means to provide transportation, food and medical care to these animals that so desperately need our help.
We would not be able to provide these services without YOU. Thank you!
We received an additional 3,000+ signatures to Ban Korea's Brutal Dog Meat Trade.
The more signatures we receive, the more power we have behind our voice. If you haven't signed the petition—add your voice today!
LFT's Work to End the Dog Meat Trade World-wide
Lady Freethinker (LFT) is committed to ending the cruel dog meat trade, in which beloved family pets are stolen or dogs are factory-farmed, tortured and slaughtered for food. Our undercover investigations expose the harsh reality millions of dogs endure at slaughterhouses and auction facilities.
Our local campaigns aim to change hearts and minds. Our petitions influence government officials and policymakers to ban dog meat. And the resources we provide to local shelters — food, water, medical care, and more — help dog meat victims recover from a life filled with pain and suffering. View our entire mission and strategy to end the dog meat trade world-wide.
Your monies provide equipment and resources to local, undercover investigators (cameras, video, travel) and the means to alert LFT of perpetrator movements. Once cruel or illegal acts are uncovered, LFT provides the personnel and technology to report and distribute these atrocities for public awareness and outrage on our communication platforms along with the credibility to have them published within national and international forums (i.e. National Geographic, People, Salon).
Research for appropriate local and national officials and lawmakers, along with the creation and distribution of petitions and final delivery, take technology, personnel, and networking resources.
Lastly, it takes "boots on the ground" and strategic coordination to plan and implement a rescue—these animals often need immediate medical attention, food and water, and transportation.
Why does progress seem slow? It is a monumental effort to influence international policy decisions as a foreign entity. That’s why we work with local organizations on the ground in the cities and countries that allow the dog and cat meat trade to continue. Policy decisions take a very long time, lagging well behind public opinion.
Lack of local enforcement—many cities and countries simply do not allocate local law enforcement resources to preventing and ending the sale and slaughter of dogs and cats. Without strict, straightforward laws, it is unlikely that local law enforcement will dedicate these resources. LFT provides the resources to stay on-watch and report.
Obscure laws. Much like a lack of local law enforcement dedicated to stopping the dog and cat meat trades, ambiguity in the law allows perpetrators to get away without punishment even when they’re caught. This is why we must influence politicians and lawmakers—through your petition signatures— to support and pass strict, straightforward laws regarding the sale and slaughter of dogs and cats.
Thank you for speaking out to end dog meat in Korea.
